Come experience Weatherstone Ranch! View Mini Highland Cattle & Valais Blacknose sheep in comfort - pastoral views and a 54-acre working-farm experience awaits! Plenty of woods to explore and farm activities on site, but lots of nearby attractions like Lake Norman State Park, Zootastic, Davaste Vineyards, Fort Dobbs, Iredell Fairgrounds (of Dixie Horse Auction fame) and lots more. Seasonal highlights include lambing and calving, shearing time, animal socialization...even witness live births!
The space
54 rolling acre working cattle and sheep ranch 30 minutes north of Charlotte NC. Home to Highland cattle, rare Swiss Valais black nose sheep and ducks.
Home has a lovely modern design built in 2023. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the amenities featuring a dishwasher, full sized oven and stovetop, microwave, Bunn, coffee maker and Keurig, tea, kettle and more. Bathroom has a walk-in shower, full sized washer and dryer and heated towel rack for that spa feel. The living room has an extra deep Pottery Barn leather sofa 2 chairs, TV and original art throughout. Dining area boasts a lovely antique table and four chairs.
The outdoor space is where you will really enjoy your time at the Weatherstone Ranch. watch the animals peacefully graze in the pastures and eat your meals on the adorable picnic table on the back covered porch. Spend the evenings under the stars with a crackling fire in the fire pit and cool nights in the nearby hot tub.
Guest access
Feel free to walk up to the barn and see the animals. Sheep, lambs, cows and calves are in different pastures and pens at different times of the year.
The land on both sides of the gravel road you came in on also belong to the ranch and can be explored.
Other things to note
We have a livestock guardian dog whose job it is to live with and protect the animals. She has access to the whole property, including the yard of the rental cottage, to do her job. She will probably come visit for attention, but please do not feed her. We don't encourage her to hang around the houses.
Feel free to walk up to the barn, but please don't open gates or go in pastures.. The cows can be friendly but are unpredictable. Be mindful of their horns! Do not stick your hands or arms through gates or fences.
You can also explore the wooded acreage you will come thru on arrival. We have foraged chanterelles, oyster, chicken of the woods and cauliflower mushrooms in the right conditions and time of year!
